Itinerary Details

Day 1

The flight to Bhutan takes you over the great Himalayas, offering the most scintillating scenery of the world’s highest glacial peaks.  Upon your arrival representative from Wind Horse Tours, Treks & Expeditions will receive you and transfer to hotel through fascinating valley of Paro. Check in hotel. Overnight in Hotel at Paro

Day 2

After breakfast, visit to Ta Dzong (national Museum), the best place to familiarize about Bhutanese religion, customs and traditional arts & crafts.  Then walk down the trail to see Rinpung Dzong (the fortress of the heap of Jewels built in the 17th century), traditionally this is the office of district governor’s and the living place for monks.  After lunch visit ruined Drukgyel Dzong, the place of historic war between Tibet and Bhutan in 17th century; Kyichu Lhakhang, built in 7th century during the reign of first Tibetan king. Overnight in Hotel at Paro

Day 3

Morning excursion to Taktsang Monastery, that takes about 15 minutes drive to the starting point. The hike to Taktsang takes about an hour uphill till the viewpoint and another hour to monastery.  Guru Rinpoche visited and meditated in 8th century at this particular site. The Desi Tenzin Rabgye later built the temple in the 17th century.  Lunch will be served in Cafeteria.  After lunch stroll down to the motor road point to drive to Thimphu. Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan, Enroute stop at confluence where Paro River joins Thimphu River.  Near by Thimphu, visit Semtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in the Kingdom. Overnight in Hotel at Thimphu

Day 4

Thimphu sightseeing includes - visit to National Library, the priceless collection of Buddhist manuscripts and few English version books; Folk and Heritage Museum, which displays day to day livelihood of typical Bhutanese farmers in medieval period and their accessories; Late King’s Memorial Stupa, built for the world peace and Traditional Handmade Paper Factory; Painting School, which preserves our traditional paintings, sculpturing and wood curving; Majestic Tashichhodzong, which houses office for the king and the ministers and National Handicraft Emporium, the best place to look for souvenir from Bhutan. Evening free walk in Thimphu City.  Overnight in hotel at Thimphu

Day 5

After breakfast proceed to Punakha across Dochula pass (3,100m).  The pass offers the most spectacular view over the greater eastern Himalayas including highest peak of Bhutan.  Enroute make short excursion about an hour to the temple of divine madman, also well known as the temple of fertility. It is fascinating to walk through villages and the rice fields. Arrive Punakha the capital city of Bhutan till 1955 and still the Je Khenpo, the Chief of Abbot resides there during the winter season.  After lunch visit Punakha Dzong built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1638 and situated at the junction of Pho Chu and Mo Chu Rivers.  Overnight in hotel at Punakha

Day 6

In Morning drive north of Punakha for short excursion to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten. This chorten is dedicated to our present crown prince and for the world peace. Hike will take you around 45 minutes each way. Proceed to Thimphu for lunch. Before entering to Thimphu, you can visit oldest Semtokha Dzong, it was built in 1627 by our first spiritual and temporal ruler. Afternoon visit nunnery temple, Sangaygang view point and takin. Free walk in Thimphu City, the best place to buy souvenir from Bhutan and evening drive to Paro for overnight stay. Overnight in hotel at Paro

Day 7

After early breakfast in the hotel drive to the airport for flight to onward destination.

  • Cancellation within 10 days of the departure, 100% of the total amount will be deducted.

Overall a wonderful trip, the entire process from booking to the trip was quite smooth, and we felt like we were very well taken care of. Worth every penny and definitely would recommend the company & tour to family and friends.
